About Crystal Cruises
Crystal Cruises was founded in 1988 by the Japanese NYK Line and was for many years considered the epitome of classically elegant luxury cruising. Following its bankruptcy in 2022 (a consequence of the pandemic and its acquisition by Genting Hong Kong), the brand was revived in 2023 by the Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, owned by Lefebvre heir Manfredi Lefebvre. The company is now headquartered in London.
The relaunched fleet comprises the two classic ships Crystal Symphony (1995, refit 2023) and Crystal Serenity (2003, refit 2023). Both vessels were modernised during their refits: passenger capacities were reduced (Symphony from 940 to 606, Serenity from 980 to 740), all cabins were enlarged, and new dining concepts were introduced, including a Nobu restaurant (Symphony) and an Umai restaurant (Serenity). Premium all-inclusive, crew-to-guest ratio close to 1:1.
The onboard language is English, and the onboard currency is the US dollar. Key itinerary focuses include the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, world voyages, Asia, and Antarctic expeditions. The brand's core identity remains: a classically elegant onboard experience with refined service, black-tie evenings on longer voyages, and an international mix of guests.
