About Coral Expeditions

Coral Expeditions is Australia's leading boutique expedition cruise line — founded in 1984 in Cairns as a small reef tour company, now operating three ships with an international range of itineraries. Headquartered in Cairns, Queensland. Concept: small, nimble ships capable of accessing remote ports, with a genuine scientific background (marine biologists on board, lectures, snorkelling and diving programmes).

The fleet comprises Coral Adventurer (2019, 5,500 GRT, 120 guests) and Coral Geographer (2021, identical design) — both specialists in the Kimberley region, the Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania. Joining them is the older Coral Discoverer (2005, 1,750 GRT, 72 guests), the smallest yacht in the fleet with the shallowest draft. All ships feature a bow ramp for direct beach landings at locations without any infrastructure, as well as a marina deck with Zodiacs.

On-board language is English, on-board currency is the Australian Dollar. Key itinerary regions: Kimberley (Western Australia), Great Barrier Reef, Tasmania, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka. The target audience is travellers who place natural experiences above standard cruise comfort — authentic expedition voyaging rather than mega-ship cruising.
