Phoenix Reisen
About Phoenix Reisen
Phoenix Reisen is Germany's largest independent cruise tour operator — founded in 1973 in Bonn and still family-run by the Müller family to this day. The company charters classic, smaller ships and markets them to German guests. In contrast to AIDA or Mein Schiff, Phoenix is more traditionally elegant: fixed dining times, Black-Tie evenings on longer voyages, and traditional show programmes.
The current fleet includes the MS Amadea (1991, ex Asuka, flagship since 2006 — also well known from the ZDF Traumschiff television series), the MS Amera (1988, ex Prinsendam, in service since 2019), the MS Artania (1984, ex Royal Princess, since 2011), and the MS Deutschland (1998, taken over by Phoenix in 2024). All ships are classic premium liners carrying 500–1,200 guests — compact vessels with a high crew-to-passenger ratio.
The on-board language is German and the on-board currency is the Euro. Key itinerary regions include the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, world voyages, and special expeditions to polar regions. Phoenix Reisen is known for longer voyages (often 2–4 weeks) and attractive pricing within the premium segment.
