About Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has been the premium cruise brand of the Hamburg-based Hapag-Lloyd Group since 1970 and today belongs majority to TUI AG. The company is headquartered in Hamburg, and its onboard concept is tailored to a small, discerning circle of German-speaking guests with premium and luxury expectations. The shipping line operates four ships in two clearly distinct segments.

In the 5-star-plus segment, MS Europa (1999) and MS Europa 2 (2013) sail — both repeatedly awarded by the Berlitz Cruise Guide as the best ships in their class. At only ~28,500 GRT and accommodating 408 and 500 guests respectively, they are compact, yet fitted out to the highest standard of service (all suites with balconies, personal butler service on request, gourmet restaurants).

In the expedition segment, Hanseatic Inspiration (2019) and Hanseatic Nature (2019) operate — sister polar yachts of 16,100 GRT, ice class PC6, each carrying 230 guests and featuring a retractable glass cylinder balcony that descends below the waterline (Ocean Academy). The ships sail to polar regions, the Amazon and the world's most remote island groups. Onboard language: German (Hanseatic class) or German and English (MS Europa 2). Onboard currency: euro.
