Cunard Line
About Cunard Line
Cunard Line is one of the oldest cruise lines in the world — founded in 1840 by Samuel Cunard for mail service between Britain and North America. Today the company belongs to Carnival Corporation and operates four premium-class ships based in Southampton. The brand's core identity is built around British elegance: Afternoon Tea, Black-Tie evenings in the main restaurant, and the preservation of the transatlantic tradition.
The flagship is Queen Mary 2 (2004) — the world's only active transatlantic ocean liner, with a reinforced hull for year-round Atlantic crossings between Southampton and New York. The fleet is complemented by Queen Victoria (2007), Queen Elizabeth (2010), and the newest member Queen Anne (2024). All ships follow a class concept: Britannia (standard), Princess Grill (premium), and Queens Grill (suite class), each with their own restaurants and lounges.
The onboard language is English, and the onboard currency is US dollars and British pounds respectively. Routes include transatlantic, world voyages, the Mediterranean, and Northern Europe. Cunard is renowned for its exceptional onboard experiences: the largest ship theatre of its class (Royal Court Theatre on the QM2), the only planetarium facility at sea, and Cunard's acclaimed whisky and spirits selection.
